We at FirstBank Southwest have long believed that everyone should have the opportunity to pursue a higher education. We do not want the lack of financial resources to hold our customers back. The Decision to Borrow

Borrowing to pay for an education is an important personal and family decision. Higher education is expensive but worth the investment of time, effort, and money. Research shows that higher education can significantly increase what an individual earns over a lifetime. There also may be tax benefits available to assist with the cost of the loan. Our student loans are serviced by Panhandle Plains Student Loan Center, our partner and student loan servicing specialist. If you decide to borrow, you will enjoy the following benefits:

  • Zero Origination fees**
  • 1% principal reduction after 12 months of consecutive, on-time payments*
  • In addition, enjoy a 0.25% interest rate reduction when you pay with an automatic draft from your checking or savings account.*
  • As a bonus, Panhandle-Plains will forgive up to the last $500 of your account balance with qualified on-time payments during the life of the loan.*

*Conditions subject to change without notice and lender selected. Most but not all partnering lenders offer these incentives. Visit www.ppslc.com for more details.
** Not applicable to PLUS Loans.

All funds in a “noninterest-bearing transaction account” are insured in full by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from December 31, 2010, through December 31, 2012.  This temporary unlimited coverage is in addition to, and separate from, the coverage of at least $250,000 available to depositors under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.

The term “noninterest-bearing transaction account” includes a traditional checking account or demand deposit account on which the insured depository institution pays no interest.  It does not include other accounts, such as traditional checking or demand deposit account that may earn interest, NOW accounts, money-market deposit accounts, and Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (“IOLTAs”).

For more information about temporary FDIC coverage of transaction accounts, visit www.fdic.gov.
